Stormsure Flexible Repair Adhesive and TUFF Tape Usage Instructions

We strongly recommend patch testing all repair products on a concealed area to ensure compatibility.
1. Surface Preparation:
Clean the Area:
Ensure the surface to be repaired is clean, dry, and free from dust, grease, or any loose particles. Use a cloth or brush to remove debris.
Tip:
For rubber and similar materials, lightly sand the area with fine sandpaper to remove the oxidized layer. This exposes fresh material, resulting in a much stronger bond.
2. Positioning the Repair:
Align the Surfaces:
If you’re repairing a rip, ensure the two sides of the tear are brought together closely. Use clamps, tape, or other supports if necessary to hold the edges in place while the adhesive cures.
Backing for Holes:
If repairing a hole, apply tape or a patch behind the hole to prevent adhesive from seeping through. This backing can be removed once the adhesive has cured.
3. Apply Adhesive:
Apply a thin layer:
Squeeze the adhesive directly onto the damaged area. Spread the adhesive evenly with a spreader, brush, or your finger (wear gloves) to cover the entire surface.
Coverage:
Make sure the adhesive overlaps the edges of the repair by at least 5mm for a secure bond.
4. Curing:
Allow Adhesive to Cure:
Full cure strength is achieved 48 hours. It may take less time but depends on repair size, type, and conditions.
Tip:
You can mix the adhesive with Stormcure Accelerator to reduce the cure time by ~90%.
5. Inspection:
Check the Repair:
After full curing, inspect the repair to ensure the adhesive has bonded well, with no gaps or weak spots.
Tip:
To reduce any residual grip on the cured adhesive, lightly dust the area with talcum powder. This helps in achieving a smoother finish.
6. Repair Complete:
Your repair is now flexible, waterproof, and ready for use. Inspect the area to confirm it looks smooth and solid. If everything appears secure, the item can be returned to normal use.

TUFF Tape Instructions
1. Prepare the Repair:
Clean the Surface:
Make sure the area where you’ll apply the TUFF Tape is clean, dry, and free from dust, oil, or grease. Wipe it down with a cloth to prepare the surface.
Cut the Tape:
If needed, measure and cut the TUFF Tape to the appropriate size, ensuring it covers the area completely with some overlap at the edges.
Tip:
Rounding the corners of the tape helps prevent the corners catching and peeling up.
2. Peel the Backing Paper and Stick:
Peel Backing Paper:
Gently peel off the backing paper from the TUFF Tape, taking care not to touch the adhesive side too much (as this will make it less sticky).
Apply the Tape:
Position the tape over the area to be repaired and stick it down, starting from one end and gradually smoothing it out over the surface to avoid any air bubbles.
3. Press Down Firmly:
Press firmly on the tape with a smooth, hard object like a spoon or a similar tool. This ensures strong adhesion and a secure bond, especially around the edges.
Check the Edges:
Make sure the edges are fully sealed to prevent any lifting.
4. Repair Complete:
Your repair is now waterproof, extremely durable, and ready for use. Inspect the area to confirm it looks smooth and solid. If everything appears secure, the item can be returned to normal use.
While TUFF Tape is waterproof and durable (and can even survive multiple washing machine cycles), we recommend it to be used for a temporary repair until a more permanent fix can be made with Stormsure Flexible Repair Adhesive.
